JBA Field Trip

“Experiential learning at formal and informal field trip venues increases student interest, knowledge, and motivation.” International Journal of Environmental& Science Education (2014), 9, 235-245.

Field trips offer wonderful extensions of exploration and learning for all ages in our community.  Field trip itineraries have been:  the Detroit Zoo and Toledo Zoo, apple orchards, The Detroit Institute of Arts (yes, even older infants have enjoyed this one),  local Fire House, virtual trips to museums and aquariums across the USA, bowling alleys, Farmer’s Markets, tri-county farms, Sander and Morley Candy Making Factory, ice skating, Ann Arbor Leslie Science and Nature Center, Rochester Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, U of M Dearborn Nature Center, Kensington Park, Metro Beach, virtual “Meet this Professional” (e.g., postal worker, police officer, scientist, baker, farmer, engineer), Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, Detroit Main Library, etc.

Please note that field trips in 2022 may be limited and/or adjusted to provide the imperative protections needed for staff and children due to Covid restrictions/policies.  Most field trips require a parent/caregiver to attend with child.
